• Topics Covered: Point tool roughing; claw chisel leveling; managing impact fractures; hammer-swing ergonomics; basic 3D proportion mapping.
• Course Objectives: To build endurance and teach the precise angle of attack required to fracture and clear dense architectural stone safely.
• Learning Outcomes: Strip away large masses of stone using a point tool; level out ridges with a claw chisel; carve structural architectural elements or simplified figurative forms.
• Tools & Materials: French Limestone or Portland Stone; steel pitchers; point tools; claw/tooth chisels; iron carving hammers.
Rules
• Rules: Wear impact goggles at all times; never strike a hardened steel tool with another steel tool (use iron or brass hammers); stand with correct ergonomic posture.
