ASSET CREATION & MODELING
Introduction
This course focuses on high-fidelity asset creation, detailing, and asset refinement. Students explore advanced modeling pipelines, hard-surface detailing techniques, and digital sculpting for organic terrain features.
Instructor Profile
Prerequisites
Description
Topics Covered
• Advanced hard-surface modeling: bevel rules and support edges
• High-poly modeling vs. low-poly game asset optimization
• Sub-division surface modeling workflows for smooth objects
• Digital sculpting basics for organic props (rocks, wood, stone cracks)
• Topology optimization: target edge deletion and polygon reduction
• Cleaning up mesh data (freezing transforms, deleting history)
• Managing pivot points and asset alignment trackers
• Export pipelines using industry standard file formats (.FBX / .OBJ)
Course Objectives
• Sculpt high-detail organic elements from primitive bases.
• Optimize heavy high-poly geometry into clean low-poly meshes.
• Implement professional asset clean-up behaviors before export.
Learning Outcomes
• Model a complex hard-surface environment prop (e.g., an elaborate chest or engine).
• Sculpt high-detail damage onto stone or wood surfaces.
• Deliver optimized low-poly meshes matching high-poly bakes.
Tools & Materials
• 3D Modeling software and Digital Sculpting software (ZBrush or Blender)
• Digital drawing tablet (for natural brush-stroke sculpting control)
• Asset export validation toolsets
