FURNITURE PROTOTYPING & ASSEMBLY
Artist Profile
Prerequisites
Description
While the curriculum teaches the theory of furniture, this workshop is about the build. Students get hands-on experience assembling the "Advanced Furniture" they modeled digitally in Pillar 5.
The Focus: Understanding hardware (hinges, slides, and joinery), hands-on assembly of flat-pack or custom-designed millwork, and applying professional finishes (lacquer, oil, or wax).
Curriculum Link: Connects Pillar 5 (3D Modeling) to Pillar 7 (Site Coordination), ensuring the designer knows if their digital design can actually be built.
Platform Idea: Search for "Makerspace" facilities or woodworking collectives like Cairo Woodworking to find local hands-on assembly classes.
