THE UPCYCLED AESTHETIC: Waste-to-Decor Workshop
Artist Profile
Prerequisites
Description
Instead of buying new, this workshop focuses on "Mining the City." Students learn to transform construction waste, plastic, and metal scrap into professional-grade decorative objects.
The Focus: Techniques for transforming industrial waste into high-end "Terrazzo" (using crushed glass/concrete), weaving plastic into textiles, and welding scrap metal into lighting fixtures.
Curriculum Link: Reinforces the Sustainability goals of Pillar 4 and adds a unique, "one-of-a-kind" story to the Pillar 7 Portfolio.
Platform Idea: Design collectives such as Precious Plastic or local "Maker Spaces" are excellent resources for learning to turn waste into valuable interior assets.
