• Topics Covered: Sun path and shading analysis; microclimates; macro/micro wind behavior; zoning laws and setbacks; site topography and contours.
• Course Objectives: Synthesize raw environmental data into actionable architectural site constraints and opportunities.
• Learning Outcomes: Create site analysis diagrams, verify regulatory and legal building constraints, and optimize building orientation for climate.
• Tools & Materials: Laser distance measurer; digital camera; compass/clinometer; site mapping software (QGIS or similar).
Course Rules
• Course Rules: Multi-Visit Fieldwork: Students must submit verified proof of physical site visits at three different times of day. Legal Compliance Absolute: Any project submission that violates building setbacks or local zoning restrictions will receive a failing grade for that project.
